COVID Cancels SMU Bowl Game; 2nd in Two Years

(WBAP/KLIF) — Another bowl game canceled due to COVID-19. SMU’s game against Virginia in the Fenway Bowl has been called off. The Mustangs’ bowl game was scheduled for Wednesday, but due to an outbreak among Virginia’s team, bowl officials decided to cancel the game.

The inaugural bowl was set to take place at Fenway Park in Boston. Southern Methodist University will finish the football season 8-4. Last year, SMU’s bowl game against UT-San Antonio was also cancelled due to COVID-19.

The pandemic also forced Texas A&M to drop out of the Gator Bowl and the Hawaii Bowl, scheduled for Christmas Eve, was also cancelled.
