(WBAP/KLIF) — Senator Ted Cruz is taking heat from conservatives over calling January 6th rioters “terrorists”. The Texas Republican is under fire for his comments on Wednesday during a U.S. Senate committee hearing about Capitol Police oversight during the 2021 riot..
Cruz says he only meant those who attacked police officers on that day, and not anyone else who protested peacefully. He argues that for the last decade, he has always used the word “terrorist” to describe those who attack police officers.
Cruz made his comments on Fox’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight”.
