Dallas ISD Superintendent Officially Announces Plan to Resign

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas ISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa announced on Thursday that he plans to resign later this year.

Hinojosa addressed speculation that he could run for political office.

“I was a government teacher for eight years and I’ve been testifying at the Capitol my whole career,” Hinojosa said. I enjoy that stuff but I am going to have my hands full for the next 6 months. After that we may engage in a conversation about it.”

Hinojosa plans to hold his position through the end of the current school year. He will also assist the school board transition to its next leader.

“My sole focus as the Superintendent of Dallas ISD is to make sure we land this plane for this year and the pandemic,” Hinojosa said.

The school board hopes to hire its next Superintendent before the start of next school year.
