East Texas County Official Admits Election Fraud

Longview (AP) – An East Texas county commissioner and his wife have pleaded guilty to election fraud charges. Gregg County Commissioner Shannon Brown and wife Marlene Jackson worked out a plea bargain in which they were each sentenced to one year’s probation and fined $2,000 each. They had been indicted on dozens of vote harvesting felony counts during Brown’s 2018 Democratic primary campaign. Gregg County prosecutors say similar deals are expected with two co-defendants.
