MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF News) – As Mesquite Police work to find the person who shot and killed a local teen, city officials have planned a prayer vigil for the community tonight.

16-year-old Key’Mydre Palmer Anderson was found laying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the chest along Clay Mathis Road near Creek Royal Drive around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers initially thought they were responding to a car accident when witnesses said they saw someone fall out of a car.

So far, no arrests have been made nor has a person of interest been named.

In a Facebook post, Mesquite Mayor Dan Aleman announced that a prayer vigil will be held in front of the Cornerstone Baptist Church at 2829 Clay Mathis Road in Creek Crossing Monday at 7 p.m.

He asked residents to join him and pastors to pray for “the victim’s family, for our neighborhoods, for the youth in our community and for the violence to stop.”
