NTX Man Charged With Seditious Conspiracy Linked to Capitol Riot will Ask for Release on Bail

North Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – The leader of the anti-government militia group ‘Oath Keepers’ is expected to appear before a federal magistrate in Plano later today.

Stewart Rhodes’ lawyers will argue that he be released on bail pending his trial on seditious conspiracy charges.

The feds last week charged Thodes and 10 others in connection with the attack on the U.S. Capitol last January 6th.

The indictment says at 1:30 p.m. that day, Rhodes expressed frustration in a message to his group: “Pence is doing nothing as I predicted. All I see Trump doing is complaining. I see no intent by him to do anything. So the patriots are taking it into their hands. They’ve had enough.”

A motion written by federal prosecutors arguing for continued detention, reads in part, “Rhodes spearheaded a conspiracy to oppose by force the execution of the laws governing the transfer of presidential power in the United States.”

Among those who want rhodes to remain behind bars is his estranged wife, Tasha Adams. She labeled him a “complete sociopath” during an interview with CNN a day after his arrest on January 13.

Meantime, Rhodes lawyers say that he is not a flight risk.
