Fort Worth Man Arrested on Charges of Assaulting Law Enforcement During Jan. 6 Capitol Riot

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Another North Texan is facing charges connected to the deadly January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Authorities arrested 26-year-old Jason Blythe of Fort Worth on Monday. He’s part of a superseding indictment that includes four other men from out of state.

The Department of Justice accused Blythe in taking part in attacks at the Peace Circle, where a metal crowd control barrier was used against two U.S. Capital Police Officers.

One of the officers was injured in that specific attack.

Blythe is facing numerous charges including civil disorder, assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers with a deadly and dangerous weapon, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds and carrying out an act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds.

He was arrested by the North Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force in Fort Worth and was scheduled to make his initial appearance in a North Texas courtroom on Monday.

The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Dallas Field Office and its Fort Worth Resident Agency along with the FBI Washington’s Field Office.

The FBI Washington Field Office identified Blythe as #52 in photos it released to the public while seeking information about the rioters.

So far, more than 725 people have been arrested in almost all 50 states for crimes related to the January 6 attack.

Dozens of North Texans have been arrested and charged in the riot.
