Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A 6-year north Dallas boy was hospitalized with serious injuries requiring surgery after being bitten by a dog while getting off of his school bus Thursday afternoon.
Dallas Police say the dog left an apartment in the 3400 block of Timberglen Road around 3:15 p.m.
According to police, the dog’s owner “failed to secure” the animal, resulting in a felony charge of “attack by a dangerous dog resulting in serious bodily injury.”
Tweets from District 12 Councilwoman Cara Mendelsohn on Thursday asked for prayers for the child who was in surgery on his birthday.
Around 5am today, Mendelsohn updated her feed to say that the child made it out of surgery at 1am, according to his mother.
An investigation continues.
