City of Dallas Reviews its Response to Winter February Winter Storm

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – An internal review of how the City of Dallas handled last month’s severe weather found that more coordination is needed between several city departments and outside agencies.

The review conducted by Dallas’ Office of Emergency Management identified over two dozen problem areas … among recommendations is that city work closely with DART to make sure service continues during bad weather, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Early last month, icy conditions forced DART to halt all bus and light-rail service for the first time in its history, leaving commuters blindsided.

The review highlighted the fact that icy conditions kept tow trucks from getting to stuck DART buses; and, also recommended that the transit agency better communicate the types of conditions could prompt changes in service.

The review was requested by Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.
