Dallas Introduces City’s First-Ever Inspector General

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson introduced Bart Bevers, the city’s first-ever Inspector General, on Thursday at Dallas City Hall.

According to Mayor Johnson, the Office of Inspector General will monitor, investigate, and prosecute potential ethics violations . The office was established as part of the ethics reforms proposed by the mayor and passed unanimously last year by the Dallas City Council.

“Our city government is built on a foundation of trust,” said Mayor Johnson. But, for far too long the people that occupied this building didn’t take all of the steps necessary to build that trust.”

Mayor Johnson publicly signed an ethics pledge, which is required by the city’s ethics code.

Bevers, who once served as Inspector General for Texas HHS, will begin work Monday.
