(WBAP/KLIF) — A National Transportation Safety Board spokesman said a 13-year-old was driving the pickup truck that struck a van in West Texas and killed 7 members of a New Mexico university golf team.
The fiery collision killed nine people in all, including the 13 year old pick-up driver and a passenger.
NTSB Vice Chairman Bruce Landsberg reported, Thursday, that the truck’s left front tire blew out before impact.
The pickup crossed into the opposite lane on a darkened, two-lane highway before colliding head-on with a van, killing the boy, a man traveling with him, six members of the University of Southwest college students and the team’s golf coach.
