AUSTIN – (WBAP/KLIF)- Four people were injured in shootings along Austin’s popular nightclub alley Sixth Street late Saturday night/Sunday morning, with a police manhunt for the suspect running several hours until an arrest was made.
Police say four people were taken to area hospitals for treatment, though none of the wounds were believed to have been life threatening. A manhunt ensued with several reported arrested, until the suspect police believe to have been the shooter was detained.
Austin Police say 19 people were arrested with handguns at the festival this year. Because of gun violence and other violent issues in the past, seven times the regular amount of officers were patrolling the downtown SXSW Austin core this weekend.
This is the second mass shooting in Austin’s entertainment district in the past year; a teenager from Killeen was arrested for gun violence that killed one and injured thirteen in June.
