One Killed, 16 Wounded in Shooting at Trail Ride Concert

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said on Monday that event organizers of a concert and trail ride, where one man was killed and more than a dozen others were wounded, didn’t have a permit.

Dallas police responded to the shooting call at 5050 Cleveland Road just after midnight on Sunday.

According to DPD, 26-year-old Kealon Dejuane Gilmore was found lying near the stage with a gunshot wound to the head. Gilmore died at the scene.

Chief Garcia said that 16 people were wounded in the shooting, but all are expected to survive.

A preliminary investigation determined that at the event, one individual fired a gun into the air, then another unknown individual fired a gun in the crowds direction. No arrests have been made.

Eleven individuals were transported by private vehicles and ambulances to different hospitals. One victim is in critical condition, the others are in stable condition.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and the motive and the motive and circumstances surrounding this murder are under investigation.

Garcia also announced on Monday that it was discovered organizers of the event did not have a permit. Off-duty Dallas Officers worked the event, but were not aware it wasn’t permitted, according to DPD.

“We must work together to ensure the safety of the people who live and visit here,” Chief Garcia said. “People here should worry about enjoying themselves, not to have fear if they will make it home night.”

Chief Garcia plans to address the permitting issue with city.
