Arrest of Texas Top 10 Most Wanted Felon in Oregon

AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office announces the arrest on March 28th of a Texas Top 10 Most Wanted Felon in Medford, Oregon. James Mark Bishop was arrested on charges of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, alleged to have occurred in Texas.

Paxton’s office issued a news release detailing the legally troubled history of James Mark Bishop. First arrested while he was a sheriff’s deputy in Oklahoma, he was convicted of five counts of knowingly downloading child pornography. Bishop served time and was subsequently placed on probation, when Oklahoma officials issued warrants for his arrest based on probation violation in the child pornography case.

Texas authorities issued two felony warrants related to direct child sex abuse involving a 12 year old girl. Paxton’s office says these allegations were investigated by the Tulia Texas Police Department.

Bishop is reported to have bonded out and absconded. The U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task force, and Special Agents of the Texas Department of Public Safety are reported to have joined Paxton’s office investigators in the arrest of Bishop in Medford, Oregon.
