(WBAP/KLIF) — A Texas hospital loses a multi-million dollar lawsuit involving a brain-damaged patient. A Tarrant County jury has awarded a brain damaged patient over $8-million in damages in a case against Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.
Davis was a Fort Worth parole officer before the elective hip surgery. The jury decided that a medical staff mistake during surgery caused the woman to suffer brain damage in 2014. The mistake in anesthesia medication resulted in the woman being paralyzed, requiring 24-hour nurses care and only being able to communicate by grunting and blinking.
According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, the hospital was held 65% responsible, while Sundance Anesthesia received 35% liability.
