City of Ferris Offering Free Medical and Dental Services This Weekend

FERRIS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The City of Ferris is encouraging residents to take advantage of its “Access For All” healthcare initiative this weekend.

An array of free services are being offered including blood pressure and diabetes screening, dental checkups and physical exams.

Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams said the goal is to provide vital services to under served residents.

“The stressors that are out there for people when we look at the amount of inflation that’s occurring, it gets more and more difficult to continue pay for these things out of pocket. The more we can do to provide for relief for those citizens provides to a great quality of life for them,” he said.

The “Operation Ferris” event is being offered by the City of Ferris and the Ferris Fire Department in partnership with MD Health Pathways, Ferris Family Medicine, Jet Dental and Texas A&M Dentistry.

It’s under the city’s “Access For All” plan and is paid for by funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

“The people that are working this event have volunteered their time, their talent and the resources that they have at their disposal to be able to provide this to residents. This is an opportunity to go back to school healthier and happier,” said Williams.

The event is at Ferris High School at 1025 E. 8th Street Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 8 a.m.
