Mary Kay Convention Underway in Dallas, Bringing $35 Million Economic Impact and Pink Cadillacs

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A sea of pink Cadillacs will be rolling through North Texas over the next week as the Mary Kay Convention kicks off in Dallas on Thursday.

The Addison-based cosmetic giant’s chief marketing officer Sheryl Adkins Green said the event will bring a major economic impact to the city.

“We estimate that the Mary Kay seminar will generate $35 million in economic impact in that function of certainly the number of hotel nights which is estimated to be 29,000,” she said.

The convention will also support about 3,000 part-time and full time-jobs as well as over $800,000 in local tax revenue.

It’s the first in-person event since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020. Adkins Green said the energy at the convention will be electric.

“Mary Kay is really about people and connections and there is a unique energy when we can connect in person,” she said.

No one can talk about the Mary Kay convention without mentioning the famous pink Cadillacs. It’s an iconic car that an Independent Sales Director has the opportunity to earn.

“The criteria for that are based on her wholesale and retail sales production. It’s definitely a trophy on wheels. It’s something that Mary Kay herself innovated when she purchased her first Cadillac back in 1967,” said Adkins Green.

According the Mary Kay website, about 1.5% of Independent Beauty Consultants reach the status of Independent Sales Director.

Approximately 10% of ISDs will earn the use of the pink Cadillac.

The event runs from Thursday, July 21 through Friday, August 5.
