(WBAP/KLIF) — Expect a hike in natural gas costs this winter. North Texans have been warned that the cost of natural gas will be headed upwards this winter.
Atmos Energy sent out a letter to customers informing them of higher natural gas bills this winter due to rising energy costs. As a regulated utility, Atmos says the company is not allowed to earn a profit on the natural gas it delivers, leaving its only option to pass along the higher costs to customers.
In order to combat the higher costs, customers are encouraged to conserve energy, inquire about payment plans, or even apply for financial assistance. During the third quarter of this year, the company reported a net income of nearly $703-million.
