Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A conflict of interest controversy in Fort Worth has forced city manager David Cooke to recuse himself from all city business related to Sundance Square.

In reaction to a trip Cooke and his wife took to Aspen, Colorado with Sundance’s owners last month, Mayor Mattie Parker and city council released a statement saying, in part, that the trip “displayed poor judgement” in light of multiple city contracts with Sundance Square.

Sundance’s owner told the Fort Worth Star Telegram that Cooke was invited as part of the ‘visit fort worth’ board. Ccooke says that he’s taken similar trips with no impact on his decisions as city manager.

City Attorney Leann Guzman will handle Sundance Square-sundance square-related matters for now.

In an email to city staff, Cooke said he will do better in the future.
