Despite Backlash Over School Massacre Uvalde County Overwhelming Voted for Abbott

Uvalde County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The final vote count in one South Texas county may be considered a surprise.

Amid weeks of backlash from the families of the Uvalde school massacre victims, stats show that Uvalde County gave an overwhelming thumbs up to Governor Greg Abbott’s re-election bid. .

When all of the precincts were counted, they show that voters supported all Republicans on the ballot statewide; Governor Abbott received 60% of the vote there. In 2018, Abbott won Uvalde County over Democrat Lupe Valdez by 55%.

For months, families who lost loved ones in the May 24th , Robb Elementary School shooting have accused Abbott of not doing enough on gun control after the shooting; or to hold law enforcement responsible for the dismal response to the shooting.

Nineteen students and 2 teachers died in the shooting. Dozes of local, county, state and federal law enforcement officers waited oaver 70 minutes before confronting the shooter who was armed with an AK-15 rifle.

A number of Uvalde families had vowed to back democrat Beto O’Rourke.
