Mid Air Plane Crash Dallas; Highway 67 Closed to Drivers

DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF)= A mid air plane collision during a Veteran’s Day airshow out of the Dallas Executive Airport has left debris scattered on areas of Highway 67, with that highway shut down both directions between Red Bird Lane and Hampton Road.

Officials are responding to reports of a mid air collision that occurred during the Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Dallas show Saturday afternoon – Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman, said two planes collided about 1:30 p.m. at Dallas Executive Airport in the 5300 block of Challenger Drive, near U.S. Highway 67 in Red Bird. Our media partner WFAA-TV (Channel 8) says the crash involved a Boeing B-17. By 2 pm, Evans said he did not know the condition of the pilots or any possible injuries received by onlookers.

In a video shared online, In a video shared on social media, the B-17 appeared to have hit a smaller plane as it began to turn. Reports indicate the front of the B-17 broke off and the plane erupted into flames as they hit the ground. Details are still coming into the newsroom; updates as available.
