North Texas Firefighters Rescue Two Workers Trapped Under Euless School Building

EULESS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Talk about a close call.

Firefighters and rescue teams from across the Metroplex helped save two Roto-Rooter workers who were trapped underneath the Tops International School at 12500 South Pipeline Road Monday night.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department, the men were making repairs to a slab leak 15 feet underground when the ground sunk in due to heavy rain.

Crews responded to the school around 5:40 p.m. and the men were freed about 90 minutes later.

“It was kind of just that real slick mud. We were digging their way and they were kind of digging back our way, but from where they were…they were at limited mobility for them to try and get out on their own,” said Craig Trojacek, Fort Worth Fire Department PIO.

One man was treated at the scene and another was taken to the hospital. Neither sustained serious injuries

Fort Worth, Euless, Haltom City, Grapevine, Keller, Hurst and Watauga participated in the rescue.
