Second Burglary Suspect Charged Following Deadly Garland Police Chase

GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A second man believed to be tied to a burglary ring operating across North Texas has been charged, just days after a deadly crash that was sparked by a police chase out of Garland on Saturday.

Investigators said officers were pursuing a white Chevrolet Tahoe that was tied to armed burglaries in Mesquite, Arlington, Pantego, Grand Prairie, Hutchins, Dallas, Duncanville and Garland.

The SUV eventually rolled over and a sixteen-year-old passenger was killed.

Garland Police said the driver, 18-year-old Joey Jarvis of Dallas, is facing numerous charges including an evading arrest and detention causing serious bodily injury charge that was upgraded to murder and engaging in organized criminal activity.

17-year-old Bernabe Giles of Garland is also facing a charge of engaging in criminal activity.

According to the department, many of the crimes were caught on video and the suspects were observed armed with rifles and other firearms.

When officers searched the Tahoe, they found 5 firearms including three AR-15 pistols and two handguns.

The name of the 16-year-old who died nor the other three in the Tahoe have not been released.

Garland PD said the investigation is ongoing and more people could be charged.
