Allen ISD Votes to Set New Boundaries

ALLEN (WBAP/KLIF) – The Allen ISD Board of Trustees is moving forward with new boundaries, and one board member is resigning because of it.

During Monday’s board meeting, the school board voted to move east side children out of Anderson and Roundtree elementary schools, and re-purpose those buildings.

Critics of the new boundaries say students on the east side of Allen are not being treated the same as students on the west side because of economics.

“We are often told that we are all Allen Eagles,” said a concerned parent at the meeting. “And yet our students are not treated fairly based on their socio-economic status, special education status, and geographical status.”

After the vote, Board Member Vatsa Ramanathan resigned from the school board. He was the lone member to vote against the boundaries.

Those who support the new boundaries point to declining enrollment on the east side, and overcrowding on the west side of the city.
