Documents says that Athena was “not seriously hurt” but that Horner “panicked,” put her into the van and later “strangled her.“
Wise County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – New information details what allegedly happened leading to Athena Strand’s abduction and murder.
During the search for Athena, according to arrest affidavits, police became aware of a FedEx package that had been delivered to the Strand house on the day of her disappearance. At that point police contacted the contracting company FedEx used, in order to ID the driver.
Police were able to get footage from the van’s surveillance camera that showed 31-year old Tanner Horner taking Strand into the vehicle.
When police eventually tracked Horner down, he confessed to strangling Athena after accidentally hitting her while backing his van up outside her home. He says that he killed her because she told him that she was going to tell her dad.
