
DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Dallas Animal Services is in urgent need of North Texans who are able to foster 150 dogs over the next three days to prevent further spread of canine influenza within in its shelters.
Whitney Bollinger is the Assistant Director at DAS and said they’re working with experts to create an ambitious plan to stop the spread.
“To do that, we have to create what is called a clean break which means we need space to be able to separate exposed animals to newly incoming animals,”” she said.
Each foster parent must be able to take in the dog for a two week period.
Anyone is who has the space and loves dogs is eligible to foster. DAS will provide each volunteer with a foster kit, take care of 100% of the animals veterinary care, including a 24/7 online chat with medical personnel.
“Creates, dog food, bowls, collars…so you don’t need to have that stuff at home. As a thank you, they’re oging to goive a $150 gift card for anyone that fosters starting this weekend and keeps the pet for two weeks,” said Bollinger.
All adopted pets will receive a free veterinary visit with a partner clinic and 30 days of pet health insurance.
Anyone interested in fostering, adopting or rescuing dogs from Dallas Animal Services can go to 1818 North Westmoreland Road from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.
