(WBAP/KLIF) — The disruption caused in the lives of Southwest Airlines passengers continues to mount, as another 2,350 flights were canceled, Thursday. The financial damages that air travelers are experiencing may be much more than Southwest can repay.
Over a million passengers have been affected by the Dallas-based airline’s meltdown, including families from outside the United States. Emilio Lopez and his parents went on a family holiday trip from Mexico to New York, when flights from LaGuardia Airport were canceled. Lopez’s parents are searching for a rental car and hotel, as they are currently stranded at Dallas Love Field awaiting a flight to El Paso.
Kansas City resident Tony Hurla had a son returning from Phoenix, but ended up having to drive 16 hours round-trip to him up, after his connecting flight from Dallas Love Field was canceled. Hurla is frustrated with the ordeal, but is grateful he only had to drive to Dallas and not Phoenix. The Kansas City man is just one of thousands of people who have spent extra time and money on the airline’s debacle. Aviation experts suspect more than a million passengers have been affected.
