Body Cam Footage of Dallas Police Shoot-out Released

(WBAP/KLIF) — Police body-cam footage of a gun battle with a fugitive is released to the public. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia continues his stance on transparency as body cam footage is released from Wednesday’s shootout with a capital murder suspect.

18-year-old Joey Cesar Fraire

18-year-old Joey Cesar Fraire was wanted on a capital murder charge out of Farmers Branch, when Dallas Police pulled him over at an apartment complex in West Dallas. The driver surrendered to police, however when officers surrounded the vehicle at Bahama Glen Apartments and ordered Fraire to get out of the car, he refused and opened fire on police, hitting an officer in the foot before he was shot dead. After the barrage of gunfire, one officer realized that he was struck in the left foot.

Officers provided first aid to the suspect until EMT’s arrived, however the 18-year-old later died of his injuries at a local hospital. The injured officer who was shot in the foot was taken to a hospital, treated, and released. The suspect’s weapon was recovered at the scene and a second weapon was recovered near the driver’s seat during a search of the car by detectives. The second weapon was modified with a Glock switch.
