Otter Family Moves To Denton

Denton (WBAP/.KLIF) – The city of Denton’s Parks and Recreation Department has confirmed at least one family of river otters is living, and apparently flourishing, in one of its parks. The otters turned up in a game camera photograph taken three months ago in the Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center east of Denton. It shows a family of four, with two pups standing erect looking curiously at the camera. Since then the otters have been seen swimming near the confluence of Clear Creek and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. They are the first river otters ever confirmed in a Denton park.
Park officials warn anyone who may encounter the otters to not approach them. They may seem to be cute and cuddly, but they are not. They are wild predators with sharp teeth and claws, and can be aggressive.
