(WBAP/KLIF) — Grapevine now has a new weapon in detouring intersection take-overs. Police Chief Mike Hamlin petitioned the Grapevine City Council to amend the traffic ordinance after an intersection take-over in the city.
The city council voted unanimously to add a provision to the ordinance to go after organizers, spectators, and drivers of the unlawful events. The new law also allows officers to confiscate vehicles used in the exhibitions. The ordinance is the result of an illegal exhibition during New Years Eve at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas.
Hamlin cited street take-overs in Grapevine and Austin as a danger to the public and proposed the ordinance for the safety of citizens.
