Plano Police Search For Semi Driver In Connection to Deadly Hit-and-Run

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Plano police are searching for the driver of a semi truck in connection to a deadly hit and run this week.

It happened Monday night around 9:30 on Central Expressway near Legacy Drive.

Investigators said 29-year-old Leah Daniels of McKinney was getting out of her stalled car from the passenger side after it had been rear ended. That’s when she was hit by the semi and knocked into oncoming traffic.

Daniels was hit by another car as she lay in the roadway.

The driver didn’t stop to render aid and continued southbound on US 75.

Officer Andre Smith said they do have some information on the vehicle in question.

“We know that’s in an older model bobtail Peterbilt 389 semi-truck. Now it’s the tractor…not the trailer,” he said.

Police are asking for any information witnesses may have.

“If there’s anyone that may have been southbound…don’t think that what they witnessed was insignificant…we would really like to know if you saw a semi tractor without a trailer…please notify us…especially if you may have had a drive cam,” said Officer Smith.

Tipster can contact the Plano Police Department’s Traffic Tip line at 972-941-5483.
