It will be the team’s fourth opener at Globe Life Field and 52nd overall since the franchise moved to Arlington in 1972. The ceremonial first pitch will commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency, as Lt. Reuben T. Mankin will be on the mound. Former President George W. Bush and Governor Greg Abbott will also participate in the ceremonial first pitch. Executive Vice-President John Blake says they’ll also honor a number of Hall-of-Fame Rangers during Thursday’s game, including Nolan Ryan, Ivan Rodriguez, Jim Sundberg, Toby Harrah, Tom Grieve, Jeff Russell, Michael Young, and Ian Kinsler. The Star Spangled Banner will be performed by three-time Emmy award-winning vocal group The Texas Tenors.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred will be in attendance for opening day in Arlington, with first pitch set for 3:05 p.m.
