Washington (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Senator John Cornyn was one of a dozen members of Congress who were in Mexico City recently for a meeting with that country’s President. Cornyn told WFAA-TV’s “Inside Texas Politics” the idea was to focus on improving security along our common border. Cornyn says they reached no new agreements, but the talks were constructive, and he believes U.S. relations with Mexico will improve. Cornyn says it’s not as though either country can go its own way. We are permanently joined, and have to work out our differences. As Cornyn puts it, our two countries are like an old, married couple. “We can’t get divorced. We have to make the marriage work.”
