According to Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphree, the undercover prostitution sting netted 17 men who thought they were hooking up with a prostitute.

Murphree says task force officers posed as prostitutes online to lure unsuspecting criminals to a meeting place, where they were arrested. Twelve of the men arrested were from Denton County, while the other 5 reside in other Texas counties as far away as Kaufman. Those arrested face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Sheriff Murphree says the new Human Trafficking Task Force plans additional undercover operations in the near future, as stopping human trafficking is one of his department’s top priorities. He also credits the Texas Department of Public Safety, Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, and Lewisville Police Department.
