LISTEN: American Airlines Pilots say they are “Ready to Strike”

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Members of the Allied Pilots Association, the certified collective bargaining agent for the 15,000 pilots of American Airlines, who have been participating in a strike authorization vote throughout the month of April, will hold a picket on Monday.

“Informational picketing that is designed to send a unified message to passengers and management,” said a statement from the Allied Pilots Association. “The pilots of American Airlines are ready to strike.”

The picketing will take place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in all time zones on May 1, a few hours after the results of the strike vote are announced.

“Due to a strong turnout, we expect an overwhelming majority of our members will have voted “yes,” the APA said.

“APA remains committed to negotiating in good faith with American Airlines management to secure the industry-leading contract that our pilots have rightfully earned,” Capt. Ed Sicher, APA President. “At the same time, we must prepare for any eventuality and use all legal avenues available to us for contract resolution and improvement.”
