FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF) – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday at the new Omni PGA Frisco Resort in Frisco.
Slated to open in May 2023 in partnership with PGA of America City of Frisco, and Frisco Independent School District, Omni PGA Frisco Resort, is expected to become a leading destination for golf.
The resort features 500 guest rooms, 10 private residences, the Ranch Houses, each with views of two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by Beau Welling and Gil Hanse.
Governor Greg Abbott was on hand and told the crowd that the $520 million capital investment will create 1,000 new jobs and serve as a destination for golf enthusiasts and visitors from around the world.
“Texas is already a prime destination for tourists and golfers, but with more than two dozen tournaments already scheduled for this amazing resort, it will encourage even more growth and investment in the Frisco area,” said Governor Abbott. “Omni is a big part of the Texas economic juggernaut, and we are honored to have you here. Thank you to the Frisco City Council and community leaders, including Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney, for all your hard work bringing such a great company to this wonderful city.”
In his remarks before 350 community and business leaders, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas’ continued efforts to ensure our state remains a national leader for economic growth and development, having been named the Best State for Business 19 years in a row.
PGA Frisco will feature a lit 10-hole short course and two-acre putting course, Lounge by Topgolf, PGA Coaching Center, and it will be anchored by the Fields Ranch Clubhouse and the PGA District, which will serve as a hub for shopping, dining and entertainment.
The resort will play host to the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship later this month, and 26 additional championships scheduled at Fields Ranch East through 2034, including two PGA Championship events, and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Omni PGA Frisco Resort offers 13 dining options, four pools including an adults-only rooftop infinity pool, 127,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, and a destination full-service salon and spa, Mokara Spa.
PGA Frisco is the new home of the PGA of America Headquarters.
