State Capitol Shut Down By Protestors

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Texas Capitol was shut down, Tuesday, after a transgender rights protest.

The disruption forced DPS State Troopers to remove hundreds of people from the House Gallery. McKinney Representative Jeff Leach says the House had just begun debate on House Bill 14, which bans medical gender modification procedures on children when a mob of transgender rights protestors began chanting against the bill. The protestors were eventually removed from the State Capitol, altogether, some of them forcibly.

The bill was actually delayed by a procedural measure enacted by HB14 opponents before the disruption. Leach believes the bill will return to the House floor for debate on Thursday or Friday, which he predicts will be passed by the Republican-controlled House.
