(WBAP/KLIF) — AAA Texas released its weekly gas price survey, which shows the Lone Star State with the second lowest price for gas in the nation.

Mississippi leads the nation at $3.06 for a gallon of regular unleaded, while California has the highest price at $4.85. Gas prices have fallen again across Texas, as the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.11. According to Daniel Armbruster with AAA Texas, several factors have contributed to the almost 20-cent price drop.
The average price per gallon in DFW is $3.09, 18-cents lower than this time last year. Armbruster says a rise in interest rates by the Federal Reserve, slacking crude oil demand, and inflation are to blame for the drop in North Texas gas prices. Armbruster does warn that with Memorial Day around the corner, prices could go back up.
