(WBAP/KLIF) — Dallas Police were forced to shoot an armed man along a Southeast Dallas street. Just after 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, police received calls of a man carrying a gun in what officers describe as an armed encounter.

As officer’s arrived, they found a man with a gun along a street near Liberty Park, and ordered him to drop his weapon. The man fired his gun into the air and ran towards a motorist waiting at a stoplight, forcing officers to shoot the suspect.
Officers provided first aid until Dallas Fire Rescue arrived, when the man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The incident is still under investigation.
