Fort Worth Police Officer Indicted by Grand Jury

(WBAP/KLIF) — An off-duty Fort Worth officer will go to trial over pulling a gun on a woman while off-duty.

Fort Worth Police Officer Kouame Kouassi

An Ellis County grand jury indicted 42-year-old Kouame Kouassi for the incident which occurred last September at a Love’s Travel Stop.

Kouassi was involved in a vehicle transaction and wanted to confront the other party involved in the deal when he saw what he thought was the car of the other party involved in the deal. According to Midlothian Assistant Police Chief Scott Brown, that’s when Kouassi allegedly pulled a gun on a woman who was driving a similar car in a case of mistaken identity.

Fort Worth Police have placed Kouassi on temporary suspension pending results of the trial. The 42-year-old is currently out on bond and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
