Border Patrol Council Weighs in on New Texas Border Laws

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Border Patrol council weighs in on new Texas border protection laws. After signing border security bills into Texas law, Governor Abbott credited the legislature with providing the tools to fight the cartels.

According to Border Patrol Council Vice-President Chris Cabrera, giving border agents the authority to arrest in Texas is huge. The new legislation allows law enforcement to patrol the border with drones and Cabrera feels designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations will help in deter human and drug smuggling. He also believes that giving Border Patrol Agents the authority to arrest crime suspects in Texas will impact border community crime.

He says Texas is doing the job of the Federal government and unnecessarily drawing DPS resources from northern Texas.
