(WBAP/KLIF) — The heat wave is having a negative affect on Texas restaurants. Business has taken a dip for North Texas eateries, this summer, and some believe the extreme heat is to blame.

The Texas Restaurant Association’s Kelsey Erickson Streufert says Texans are used to the summer heat, however after a few weeks of triple-digit temperatures habits change. Many residents will choose to venture from home less, as they enjoy the air conditioned confines of their own homes.

Struefert says restaurant owners are not only focusing on employee safety during the heat wave, but also looking at ways to entice residents to dine out. Some key marketing decision to boost business involve making it easier for customers to pick-up food. Streufert also says adding new items to the menu with a heat wave theme could also spark business, as well as stream-lining take-out, and providing online ordering.
