WATCH LIVE: Timothy Simpkins Trial Day 2

FORT WORTH, Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – The attempted capital murder trial for a former Mansfield Timberview High School student accused of shooting 3 people in a classroom two years ago is underway.  

Timothy Simpkins’ attorneys on Monday did not give an opening statement as the trial began in at the Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth. Simpkins with three counts of attempted capital murder for the incident on Oct. 6, 2021.

Tuesday’s testimony began with testimony from a teacher at Timberview High School who recalled approaching students who were peering into a classroom. At the time Mr. Walker did not know what was going on but soon heard gunshot and testified that he started running.

On Monday, prosecutors outlined their began their opening statement saying that October 6, 2021 started as what seemed to be a normal day, until Simpkins they say entered the school around 9 a.m. with a gun. Fifteen minutes later, according to prosecutors three people had been shot.

In the first round of testimony, English teacher where the incident unfolded, Mrs. Altman testified, “I was trying to call for help.” . Mrs. Altman testified through tears about a fight between students that led to the school shooting. It happened in her classroom. 

Prosecutors are using cellphone video as part of the evidence in the trial against Simpkins.
