North Texas First Responders, Educators Prepare for Possible Active Shooter Scenario

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (WBAP/KLIF) – North Richland Hills Emergency Management, alongside Birdville ISD, hosted a full-scale, multi-agency, and mass casualty training exercise on Wednesday.

“The event brings together over 30 local agencies and nearly 400 participants to collaborate and test emergency response procedures in a simulated crisis scenario,” said NRHPD Chief Mike Young. “The main objective of this joint training exercise is to strengthen our emergency preparedness, operations, and response capabilities.”

The exercise was intended to help ensure that all agencies work seamlessly together to effectively manage potential threats and protect the lives residents.

During the training at Richland High School, educators focused on the reunification process of a potential school shooting.

The exercise was followed by a comprehensive evaluation and debriefing session, where agencies analyzed their performance.
