Excessive Heat Warning Continues for North and Central Texas

UPDATE 8-2-23 3:45 PM: (WBAP/KLIF) – The excessive heat warning in North and Central Texas is extended until 8 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, dangerously hot conditions with temperatures or heat index values around 103 to 110 degrees are possible.

Extreme heat and humidity increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

UPDATE 8-2-23 8 AM:

In Texas, a red flag means that extreme fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly, according to the National Weather Service. That, as oppresive heat continues with ‘real feel’ temperatures reaching up to 110.

North Texas (WBAP/KLIF) Amid the continue Excessive Heat Warning, it's advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
