SAN ANTONIO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – One of Texas’ most popular fast food chains is giving away free burgers in honor of its 73rd birthday.
Tuesday, August 8 has been claimed National Whataburger Day by the San Antonio-based company.
The restaurant is giving its rewards members a free Whataburger through the app today. Members must have placed in order in the last year to be considered active and eligible for the deal.
Collectors can get their hands on the inaugural National Whataburger Day table tents that will be handed out today.
Whataburger is also donating $73,000, that’s $1,000 for every year they’ve been open, to relieve school lunch debt with its program All for Lunch.
Some lucky fans are invited to Whataburger’s headquarters in San Antonio, for a behind-the-scenes look at its new innovations, menu items and a merchandise shopping spree.
In a statement, the company thanked its die hard supporters.
“Whataburger fans are the real deal. They wrap their babies in Whataburger taquito paper, propose marriage over fries, bring their prom dates for after-prom shakes, and even create beautiful art inspired by our orange-and-white stripes.” “So when we say we have the best fans and employees (who we call Family Members) in the business, we mean it. It’s a love unlike any other-and one we think deserves to be celebrated on a national stage.”
The restaurant was founded in 1950 in Corpus Christi and has over 950 locations nationwide, 717 in Texas.
