Man Accused of Shooting Harris County Deputy Surrenders After-Hours Long Standoff

HARRIS COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The suspect wanted for this week’s shooting of a Harris County deputy and three other law enforcement officers was taken into custody in the Houston area Thursday night after a chaotic five hour standoff at a home in Humble.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says 34-year-old Terran Green gave himself up to the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force.

Authorities said Green barricaded himself inside a house after opening fire on the officers from various departments including the United States Marshals Service and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The wounded were taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“He was taken into custody without incident. There was an extended standoff that occurred here this evening and we’re relived that it was resolved peacefully,” he said.

Green is now facing three counts of attempted capital murder in the shootings.

The sheriff said Green also had outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault of a Family Member and Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

“Our hope now, first and foremost, that those who were injured and wounded that they make a full recovery. Secondly, is that Green is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and that justice is served,” said Sheriff Gonzalez.

Terran’s brother, James Green was taken into custody, questioned and released early Thursday, according to KHOU TV.

29-year-old HSCO Deputy Joseph Anderson, who was shot during the traffic stop Wednesday night, is said to be recovering.
