MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF) – Mesquite Police have released Dashcam video of a deadly officer involved shooting that occurred on August 11, 2023.
A 16 year old suspect was killed after leading police on a high speed chase in excess of 110 miles per hour.
In the video you can see the teen get out of the driver’s seat of his SUV, open the door of the backseat and reach inside while the officer is yelling for him to stop. The unidentified officer tells the teen to stop 9 times before firing his weapon 5 times killing the teen.
Inside the vehicle investigators found a 45 Caliber handgun with 3 rounds in the magazine.
Officer Aaron Perez says their department will “continue to investigate the shooting and turn their findings over to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office.” Perez adds the officers has “been with the Mesquite Police Department 14 years, 8 as an officer.”
