DFW Hits Hottest Temperature in Ten Years; Excessive Heat Warning Extended through Saturday

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – DFW Airport reached 110 degrees Friday which is the hottest air temperature recorded at the airport, where records are kept, since 2011.

The last 110 degree day was August 2nd, 2011. The last time 111 degrees was recorded was September 4th, 2000.

The National Weather Service has re-issued its Excessive Heat Warning until 9:00pm Saturday night for all of North and Central Texas.

The weather service says dangerously hot conditions will continue with temperatures up to 109 and heat index values up to 113.

The weather service warns extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

An Ozone Action Day has also been issued for portions of North Texas including all of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
