(WBAP/KLIF) — The labor day weekend is shaping up to be busier than last year. Although not as busy as Memorial Day or the 4th of July, the Labor Day holiday weekend is expected to congest airports and roadways.

AAA Texas predicts a 4% increase in Labor Day weekend travelers compared to 2022. With 85% of those trips being taken by car, AAA’s Daniel Armbruster encourages ensuring your vehicle is in top working condition. Armbruster also says 85% of those heading out this holiday weekend will be driving.
While the statewide gas price average of $3.42 per gallon is down from a week ago, it has increased slightly over the last three days. The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.82. The cheapest gas is in San Angelo at $3.27 per gallon, while El Paso is the most expensive at $3.93.
